A Halo Over Moscow

http://l.yimg.com/a/i/ww/news/2009/10/13/halo-pd.jpg

And you thought rainbows were cool. A few days ago, a mysterious cloud shaped like a halo appeared over Moscow, and the buzz has yet to break.

We're the first to admit that a photograph of the heavenly cloud appears to be photoshopped. It's just so...perfect. But meterologists have spoken up and said the cloud wasn't digitally altered. However, it wasn't exactly what it appeared to be, either.

When the cloud initially formed, some UFO enthusiasts declared it to be a "true mystery." Some even compared it to the giant spaceship hovering over Earth in the movie "Independence Day." Reality quickly dashed any predictions of an alien invasion. An article from the Daily Mail explains that the "luminous ring-shaped cloud" was simply an optical effect.

An official spokesperson for Moscow's weather department said, "Several fronts have been passing through Moscow recently, there was an intrusion of the Arctic air too, the sun was shining from the west — this is how the effect was produced."

The cloud loomed last week, but the searches are still soaring. Lookups on "halo cloud" and "moscow cloud" are both booming, and a video clip has garnered hundreds of thousands of views on YouTube. You can check it out for yourself below...

Mike Tyson's Tearful Interview With Oprah

In an emotional interview with Oprah Winfrey, Mike Tyson claimed to be a new man - one focused on his family. The former heavyweight boxing champion feared that the erratic behavior that has dominated his life for two decades would kill him within two years if he returned to it.

Tyson opened up about most of his headline-grabbing actions over the years, including his years in prison, his tempestuous eight-month marriage to Robin Givens, his long addiction to drugs, the $400 million fortune he squandered, the 1997 comeback match in which he bit Evander Holyfield's ear, and -- for the first time -- the death of his 4-year-old daughter earlier this year.

http://l.yimg.com/a/i/ww/news/2009/10/12/tyson-pd.jpg

The key development in Tyson's life stems from what seems to be a newfound self-awareness following his participation in the movie "Tyson," a documentary about his life filmed as he went through rehab two years ago. "If I'm not conscious of who I am, I'm just going to let myself run [wild], and I'm going to destroy my beautiful family, and I'm going to destroy myself, and I don't want to go down that road any more," he said.

Tyson ranged from terse to surprisingly candid as Winfrey asked the fallen champion about his checkered past, and he delivered eye-opening quotes about Givens and Holyfield while remaining somewhat tightlipped about the specifics of his daughter's death.

On choosing not to know the details of his daughter's accidental death: "I don't know. I don't want to know. If I know ... [then] somebody's to blame for it, and if somebody's to blame for it, there are going to be problems." The quote seems to insinuate that he doesn't want to be mad at his ex-wife or any of his other children who might be found at fault for the freak accident in which daughter Exodus was found unconscious and tangled in a cord hanging from an exercise machine.

On the "20/20" interview in which he sat idly while Givens called him manic-depressive and said that life with Tyson was "pure hell" and "torture": Tyson explained that the marriage was abusive "both ways" -- that he battered Givens, but that she abused him emotionally.

On the Holyfield incident: "I was pissed off that he was such a great fighter ... I was just mad at him." Tyson said that after the incident, "I didn't feel guilty at all," and that the apology he delivered "wasn't sincere."

On why he hasn't spoken to Holyfield since: "I see him sometimes, I think he's a little leery of me." Tyson added, "I just want to apologize. I've known him for such a long time, and I was just undisciplined. I was in a very competitive mood and I wanted so desperately to beat him for my own self-aggrandizement, and I was just upset."

On whether his current family-oriented, monogamous life is boring: "I know I don't have two more years to live if I live this life." (By "this life," he means his former hard-living world of drugs, women, and bankruptcy.)

In all, Tyson was more candid than most athletes are willing to be in today's professional-sports landscape. But then, Mike Tyson has a lot more baggage to unload, too.

Jon Fires Back At Kate -- You Took $$$ Too!

In football, if both teams commit a penalty on the same play, they just do the play over. Does the same thing apply when Jon and Kate Gosselin both allegedly violate a court order?
Jon Gosselin, Kate Gosselin

A few days after Kate claimed Jon raided their joint bank account (a legal no-no), Jon filed papers of his own claiming she did the same. According to the papers filed last week, Jon claims Kate withdrew over $60,000 from their joint account between July and September 2009.

He also claims she took out over $1 million from February 2008 to June 2009 that have not been properly accounted for.

Sources connected to Kate contend her withdrawals were legal and note that Jon withdrew $230,000 without the necessary permission required by the arbitrator. Both sides are due back in court on Tuesday.

Katherine Jackson Won't Inherit M.J.'s Estate

5peek@n!t has learned Michael Jackson intended to provide for his mother during her lifetime, but once she dies her share of the estate will go directly to M.J.'s three kids.

As we first reported, under the trust, 40% of Michael's estate goes to Katherine. The kids get 40% and the remaining 20% goes to charity. But we've learned ... Katherine Jackson will not get 40% outright.

The trustees -- John Branca and John McClain -- decide what money should go to the beneficiaries. Katherine has no voice in those decisions. Whatever remains in Katherine's trust when she dies goes directly to the children.

Bottom line -- Katherine will get a healthy stipend for the rest of her life ... now she's getting a hefty allowance and when the trust kicks in she'll probably get more. But she will not inherit 40% of her son's estate.

Oprah Sued Over Alleged Mile High Tryst

http://www.blogcdn.com/www.tmz.com/media/2009/10/1010_oprah_bn.jpg

Many people go out of their way to join the Mile High Club -- but a woman who used to work for Oprah Winfrey claims allegations that she got it on in the air got her fired from her job.

According to a lawsuit filed yesterday, Corrine Gehrls was a flight attendant on Oprah's private jet -- at least until July. She claims two other flight attendants -- one of whom is the daughter of Gayle King -- conspired to lie to Oprah about Gehrls having "inappropriate intimate behavior" aboard a flight.

Gehrls claims she was fired, along with the guy involved in the alleged act -- who happened to be the Cheif Pilot at the time.

Gehrls is suing Harpo, Oprah's company, along with the two flight attendants she claims lied about her. She's asking for damages in excess of $75,000.
